CIVIL WAR LINKS
The internet is an inexhaustible source of
research material about every aspect of the Civil War. Most important are
the battlefield preservation sites. First-person accounts by military
personnel from generals to privates and by civilians as well -- photographers,
newspaper reporters, even the occasional Congressman -- abound on the internet.
Anyone interested in discovering more should plan a trip to some of the dozens
of battlefields all over the southeast. Finally, there are sites for the
Civil War community to gather. Most of the Civil War Roundtables have
websites, and we will be posting links to as many as possible here over the
coming weeks. Also, the History Sites website contains a long list of
Civil War message boards, with one site devoted to each state. Coming soon
-- suggestions for sites which will help you trace your Civil War ancestors; or
for those who already have an ancestor pinpointed, either in Blue or Gray, we
will offer the links to finding your soldier's service and pension record.
