A RAID BY THE FIFTEENTH KENTUCKY, LOUISVILLE DEMOCRAT, MARCH 8, 1862 A letter from Nashville, dated the 3d, gives the following as an achievement of a part of Col. Pope's regiment: A nice little capture was made on Friday evening by Gen. Dumont's escort, under the command of one of his Aides. It was rumored that there was somebody concealed at a private house four miles southeast of Dumont's headquarters, and a mile from the pike. The escort, supported by Capt. Halpin, of the Fifteenth Kentucky, with a company of infantry, went out to see; and sure enough they found and bagged no less a personage than Col Benoit, of the Sixth Mississippi, together with Capt. Romeyn, of the same regiment. Louisville Democrat, March 8, 1862 |
